Going back to the good o'le days.

** This picture was found on Google Images when I searched "Technology" I thought it was hilarious so that's what I went with.

In the past week I’ve:

* stood outside the manual doors at Target expecting them to open and couldn’t figure out why they wouldn’t.
* tore the house apart looking for the TV remote when the screen was 4 feet from where I was sitting – but I just don’t know how to work those buttons.
* walked out to my honey’s car and frantically pushed the door unlock button on my remote only to remember that his car doesn’t open with my car’s remote.
* looked at my phone to know what day it is.
* started to hyperventilate when the microwave stopped working because I couldn’t figure out how I would make dinner without it.
***Luckily it started working again so no one went hungry.

I decided that I’m waaaaaay too dependent on today’s technology and luxuries – so I’m going to take a step in the past and do the following this week.

- Send a letter in the actual mail. You know, those people who walk around in blue shorts will actually deliver it to your door. If I have your address, you might be the lucky recipient!
- Go into - and stand in line at the bank instead of using the ATM.
- Wash my car myself instead of going through the automatic car wash or paying the nice Mexican guy $15 to detail it.
- Re-use a zip lock bag (that doesn’t have much to do with technology but Mom’s gonna be so proud!)
- Punch in phone numbers when I make a call instead of just looking up the number and hitting send.
- Figure out basic math calculations in my head instead of my phone – and by basic I mean adding and subtracting -- multiplying and dividing will still require the use of a calculator.
- Heat something on the stove that I would’ve normally done in the microwave.

Man, I feel so liberated and independent just making this list! I’m sticking it to the man and showing him(whoever he is) that I’m a functioning adult who can survive in even the most basic of environments.

Who’s with me?

PS. I’m still planning on using my cell phone and computer. I mean, this isn’t the dark ages.

Drug addiction.

Thanks all for your concern of me being a freak of nature.

A few of you asked what the treatment is for us mutant tonsil growers.

Well, first we have to rule out any tumors.

"It's not a tumor!"

Now go back and say that like Arnold Swartzanegger (I'm not going to bother looking up that spelling. You know who I'm talking about) in Kindergarten Cop.

"It's not a tumor!"

That's better.

Unfortunately if it is a tumor than I will have to get them removed. Which is quite unfortunate because I've already grown quite attached to them. Or maybe I should say they've grown quite attached to me.

Get it?

(Geesh, rough crowd)

So I have to get a cat scan.

Then the fancy specialist doc told me to take some medicine to try to shrink them.

One is a strong antibiotic and the other is a steroid.

I think they're working.

I've been taking the steroid for a few days now and I can already tell they've shrunken.

Or maybe it's because I look like this now, that they just seem smaller.

Either way, I'm liking these steroids. First time I get to take kind of illegal drugs and I like living on the edge.

Kind of like my addiction to Mormon beer. AKA Diet Coke.

Once you start you just can't stop.

It's a good thing that I've only seen positive side effects so far.

More than you wanted to know.

So remember a couple of months ago when I was mistakenly diagnosed with Tonsillitis?

Well, turns out that doc wasn't quite as off his rocker as I thought.
My throat has been bothering me again for the past couple of weeks so I went to the doctor (aka wacko dude) and explained what the doctor had told me a couple of months ago about having tonsils despite the fact that mine were removed as a child.

So he takes a look.

His diagnosis?

"Well, you got something back there - are you sure your tonsils were removed?"

Great, wacko dude doesn't know what he's talking about either.

But he sent me to see a specialist.

Repeat explanation about tonsil removal and apparent re-birth of tonsils.

"Well lets take a look."

"OH WOW! YEAH..."

Um, doc? Could you translate please?

"Those are tongue tonsils!"

Huh? Um... huh?

Turns out we all have tongue tonsils as well as the regular ones.

Seriously, even wikipedia confirms it.

Who'da thought?

I guess it's really uncommon for them to get enlarged like I have them.

That would make me special!

Wanna see mine?

*Warning - somewhat disgusting picture of the back of my mouth coming up.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

Aren't you glad you looked?

Going Bananas

My honey surprised me the other day by bringing home some bananas.

They hadn't gone bad yet, but someone had accidentally put them in a fridge which of course made them brown.

Like this.

Did I mention he brought home 80 pounds of brown bananas?

80 POUNDS!

How could I have missed such a crucial detail?

What would you do with a lot of brownish bananas?

Here's what I did.

Froze most of them.

Made approximately 100,000 banana cookies.

Around 24,000 banana muffins.

And bread.

Lots and lots of bread.

Who wants some?

Despite my efforts in the kitchen, I still have approximately 70 pounds of bananas left. Anyone is welcome to any and all frozen bananas they would like. Come on by!

I'm Baaaaaaack!

Another reason I haven't posted in a while is because we finally got around to ripping out our cheap carpet and installing new flooring. Hooray! It looks amazing and I was a lot of hard work, but we're finally finished!
First we had to rip out the old stuff.
Then hire an amazing contractor. (aka: Dad)
PS. He only cost us several Diet Cokes and a couple of bowls of cereal. Awesome!
Put down some padding.

Recruit unsuspecting family members.
Of course breaks were necessary.
Since everyone helped.
Well, almost everyone... Some people just posed for a picture.
No child labor laws were obeyed.
And we celebrated with a gourmet pizza picnic dinner on the new floor.
And even after all that and a very long day, awesome BIL Russell made the time to hook up my amazing new computer. Thanks bro!
This day would not have been possible without the following.
Check out the finished floor.
Here we are on Sunday celebrating our new look.
Coincidentally, that bench is still the only piece of furniture we have to sit on. We got the floor installed in one day, but it obviously is going to take us several weeks to get around to putting all the furniture back.
