I mentioned earlier that my sister Eliza has been playing the single mom role while her husband took a job in far away Iowa.
Where? you ask...
(It's in the middle of the country for those of you less familiar with corn fields, right under Minnesota.)
Well it's time for her to be married again. (Figuratively, not literaly... She wasn't technically a single mom - only acting as one.)
In case that wasn't clear, she's packing up and moving.
To Iowa.
Maybe if I say it enough times it'll make more sense.
Iowa. Where the cows live.
Iowa. Corn, corn, and more corn.
Iowa. Country quilts and canned beans.
"Is this Heaven? No it's Iowa."
Nope, I still don't get it. What does Iowa have that Las Vegas doesn't?
Besides your husband. (totally minor detail)
What does Vegas have that Iowa doesn't?
Casinos, people, stores, people, freeways, people, a temple, and... oh yeah ME!!!!!!!
Is there anything better? (That was rhetorical)
Mourning the days of the Tangled wig.
Mourning the pomagranate jelly, salsa, and bruchetta making. (And subsequent county fair winning...)
Mourning the days that she has treated Sophia like her own daughter so much so that Sophia screams bloody murder if I try to take her back.
Sniff, sniff. I'm gonna miss you guys!
I'm going to miss this one getting tall enough to hit his head on the door frame.
I'm going to miss this one, my kindred spirit, with her adoration of all things pink and girly.
I'm going to miss this one and her looks to melt your heart. (And of course the stink eye)
I'm going to miss this one with his independent ways and great sense of humor.
I'm going to miss this one and his ever increasing knowledge of everything insignificant and random.
I'm going to miss this one and is infinite knowledge of computers and how to fix everything.
But mostly I'm going to miss this one. My sister and best friend. The one that knows everything about me. (especially the stuff I don't tell my honey.) The one that keeps the peace in the family. The one with the craft supplies and storage areas. The one I can complain to. The one I don't lose weight with. The one who makes batches of chocolate frosting with the sole purpose of eating it right from the bowl. The one who's always been there for me. (And is still expected to be there for me even if she lives far away.) The one who shows me how to be a good mom. The one who is unselfish and kind.
Goodbye Dobbins Family.
