3 Years

Happy Anniversary to me.

Oops, I mean us... US. I guess I'm slow to get used to this sharing the spotlight thing.

3 years ago we looked like this.

Now we look like this. (Happier maybe?)

Of course I looked hard for the most unflattering picture of myself.

I think I succeeded.

Cheers honey! Here's to at least 3 more!

Free Food!

I never turn down anything free.

It's my motto. Or mission statement. Whatever.

So when AJ came home from school with a flyer for free pancake breakfast at my local fire house I knew nothing would stop me from going.

I actually was hoping to get some single fire fighter's numbers for Barb.

No such luck, turns out it was community center employees serving up the food not hot firemen.

We still enjoyed ourselves though.

Sophia got her first and last look at the backseat of a police car. I didn't know the seats are plastic. That's can't be comfy. (Notice her solemn expression)

She got up close and personal with the SWAT team and their ride.

I took this one to make fun of the lady and her dog stroller. I'm Christlike like that.

And Sophia with an inflatable fireman. Her dreams have really come true.

No pictures of the pancakes however. They were just ok. How good can they be when you have to make 1,000.

Teeth!

She skipped getting her first tooth and decided to get her first teeth.

She's always been advanced.

Takes after me.

Goodbye Grandpa

He used to play patty cake and intentionally miss clapping my hands together and say "Whoops!"

One time we were fishing on his boat and I cast off my whole fishing pole in the lake... luckily he was able to grab the bobber and pulled out the entire reel of fishing line until we got to the pole.

He wore his shoes until they were falling apart and then he would duck tape them together.
He duck taped a lot of things back together.

He traveled to Africa twice all by himself.

One time we were driving in his truck and he forgot to turn off his turn signal. He couldn't hear the clicking... for miles and miles. I was so embarrassed. Finally I pointed to the flashing arrow and said "Hey Grandpa, what's that?"

He wore coveralls to every occasion. Graduations...weddings. (Here he is at my wedding)

His house burnt down and he lived in his garage for many years.

We would have to use an outhouse when we'd visit him and the shower was a curtain in the kitchen.

His hearing got progressively worse throughout the years. I don't think he's been able to hear my voice for a few years.

He wore suspenders when he wasn't wearing coveralls.

His name is William Eldridge Mitton, but everyone called him Al.

He passed away on Tuesday.

Bye Grandpa, thanks for the memories.

I totally saw him last night.

This guy. In the flesh. I swear!

No I didn't go to a concert. We were just driving downtown and we heard saxophone music being played. Then we got up to Freemont Street and as we were driving by I saw him.

Way exciting I know.

Try not to be jealous.

I was downtown because I had to go with my Brother-in-law and his girlfriend to get their marriage license for their shotgun wedding this weekend.

They're white-trashy classy like that.

They may or may not be hearing the pitter patter of little feet in 5 1/2 months. (you do the math...)

At least Kenny G was there to make my night!

Happy Day!

To me!

Sophia decided to take her first steps on Mother's Day.

Let the toddler years begin!

In other news, she also went swimming for the first time.

And happily used the opportunity to drink as much pool water as possible.

She does me proud!
