What the deviled egg!

On Saturday my Stake RS put on a activity about the life of Christ and assigned each Ward in the Stake a food stand and had the gym all decorated bazaar-like as if in the time of Christ.

My ward was assigned to bring cheese and deviled eggs. (I'm not positive they had deviled eggs in 30 A.D., but I'm doing some research on the subject)

Deviled eggs - they're kind of an American food item.

It's a good thing I'm American.

In a SPANISH WARD!

And therefore the only one who knew how to make deviled eggs and the only person given the assignment.

Here's what egg prep looked like the night before.

My friend Jen was a life saver! I have no clue how I thought I could do this by myself. Her expertise was greatly needed, and so was her food processor.

I finished prepping in the church kitchen on the day of. Nobody likes soggy or crusty deviled eggs.

(Did I mention that we were supposed to dress as if in the time of Christ?)

Although, I look slightly more like Scarlett Johansson.

If only I could master the sultry lips.

And here is the final product.

The eggs of course were a hit. But so was the bread stand and they totally just bought different types of bread. Is it Christ-like of me to call them cheaters!

Entertaining made easy

Showering has become a challenge for me.

Not because I'm hygienically challenged or anything, but because I have the daunting task of entertaining a 7 month old while I'm doing it.

I get tired of playing peek-a-boo behind the curtain. Mostly since it takes twice as long to shower that way and it lets all the cold air in.

I discovered the perfect solution.

A mirror!

I desperately tried to get a picture of her french kissing herself (She gets that from her dad), but it was not to be. I got her with her *toys instead.

*Toys in my mind consists of an empty scotch tape dispenser and a tube of toothpaste.

Feel free to applaud my genius. I do all the time!

Springs preserve

While Grandma and Grandpa were here we took advantage of a school holiday and took all the kids to the springs preserve, which is basically a little nature park with animals and plants native to Nevada.

AKA Cactus and Spiders

The kids seemed to have fun. We didn't see too many animals other than the 15 minute bird show.

The other 2 hours were spent exploring the play areas and exhibits. Ironically, the only thing AJ remembers from the whole day was the bird show.
I guess we could've just left after that.
If it weren't for the old folk wanted to see more nature items.
And the snacks. NEVER go anywhere with 8 kids and no snacks!

We now have an annual membership so I plan on taking advantage. Maybe if I go several times AJ will remember more than just the birds.

I can't wait until I'm 8

We've had a bunch of birthday's at my house lately because AJ turned 8 last month which means he got to be baptized this month.

We got special permission for him to be baptized a week late so Grandma and Grandpa from Minnesota could be there.

All the cousins came too.

Sniff sniff, my boy's getting so big!
Next step, the teenage years!

What 30 looks like

Almost another house fire.

(Yes I know, a most flattering picture)

Due to candle overload.

Sister's Resolution

Eliza and I joined forces this year on one of our New Year's Resolutions.

Fortunately it's only 4 words long, so it should be an easy resolution to remember.

Ready for it?

Prepare yourselves because it's pretty profound.

We Fat

Therefore:

WiiFit

And loving every minute of it.

Eliza's already lost 2 pounds and I've already gained 2 so we're off to a good start! (I attribute mine to the fact that with my starting weight I had the board on carpet and everyone knows that won't give you an accurate reading! - cake, cookies, and Carmel popcorn probably had nothing to do with it)
